Get your eyes examined!
We all take our eyes for granted, when we should be celebrating what they do for us.
It's easy to neglect your eyes - they rarely hurt when there’s a problem. But if your eyesight is damaged or lost, it may never be restored.
Start with a regular eye examination at least every two years - even if you don't wear spectacles. Some of us may need to be tested more often if we have particular eye conditions or if we’re over 40. If you have a family, why not get tested at the same time, so you’ll all have the chance to see more clearly? Children should have their eyes tested regularly from before they start primary school - they don't need to have to read letters.
Eye examinations are especially important for people who may have had cataract surgery or laser eye surgery and don't think that they need to visit an optician any more. All of us are at risk of potentially blinding eye conditions such as glaucoma and age related macula degeneration, or underlying health conditions such as diabetes. The risk increases if you previously had a moderate to high spectacle prescription. And the earlier a problem is detected, the faster it can be treated and further damage can be prevented.
We all put our eyes to much more use - with smart phones, tablets and computers. Even small prescriptions can lead to eyestrain, fatigue, and headaches. More of us have eye coordination and focusing problems.
At Mackey Opticians we take time to look after you and your eyes using the latest techniques and technology. We want to detect any problems before they cause any harm to your vision and can advise you on how to best use your eyes and any spectacles or other eyecare correction.
