Eyecare at Home
If you are housebound and unable to visit one of our practices, we provide a home visit service. This lets you have your eyes examined by an experienced Optometrist in the comfort of your own home. We also carry out eye tests in nursing homes and hospitals.
How much does a home visit cost?
Eye examinations are free for everyone over 60 or on benefits under the NHS. If you are eligible for a free NHS eye test there is no extra charge for a home visit.If you require glasses we can supply and fit these for you. We will bring all the necessary equipment to carry out a full sight test and a wide range of frames. If you are entitled to free glasses under the NHS there is no charge for supplying these at a home visit.Please ask your local Mackey Opticians for prices if you require a private home visit.
What’s included in this service?
At Mackey Opticians we provide only the highest standards of clinical care. All of our Optometrists are fully qualified and members of the General Optical Council and attend further training on a regular basis. Our Home Care service includes free eye examinations, delivery and fitting of glasses and aftercare services.
Who should use this service?
Domiciliary visits are for people who are genuinely housebound or have difficulty attending an optician’s practice due to mobility or health problems.
How often should I have an eye test?
We recommend regular eye examinations for everyone at 1 to 2 year intervals or as advised by your Optometrist. In particular, you should ensure that you have your eyes examined regularly if; you are over 40 or you have a history of glaucoma in your family or you have diabetes. A regular eye test is a vital health check for your eyes.
